More grip for the TDI

The Audi TT 2.0 TDI is so pretty the perfect mixture of "now I like to have something" and total reason. A great long-distance sport coupé, which even your own financial consultant sends with pleasure. The problem is only: Until now, the Diesel-TT was exclusively equipped with front-wheel drive and manual transmission. What makes sense in a more comfortable and everyday-oriented sportsman with 380 newton meters of torque is about as much as diet cola to a triple whopper maxi menu. Now Audi also seems to have recognized the malus and has added the series to what was long overdue: a TT 2.0 TDI quattro with six-speed S-tronic.



Basically rather front-heavy
It remains, of course, at 184 hp and 380 newton meters. Only in the case of acute traction loss can these be transmitted continuously to the rear axle via the known electrohydraulic lamellar clutch. Thanks to the so-called wheel-selective torque control system, which in the limit area specifically makes small brake engagements on the curve-inner wheels, Audi promises "even more fluid and more stable handling". On roads with low friction, even "controlled, safe drifts" should be possible. For a diesel TT the friction coefficient for this is probably in the low minus range, but we are pleased to know that this is theoretically possible.



More acceleration, more fuel consumption
Thanks to the new drive combination, the TDI-TT improves the sprinting speed significantly. The sprint from 0-100 km / h is now in 6.7 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than before. The TT Roadster needs smooth seven seconds. For this, the top speed drops by seven to 234 km / h and also the standard consumption makes the heavier all-wheel drive to create. It rises by 0.9 to 5.2 liters. The roadster is 5.4 liters.



More acceleration, more fuel consumption
The prices for the TT 2.0 TDI quattro S tronic start at 41,250 euros. Without a roof at least 43,650 euros are due. This means a 4-wheel double clutch surcharge of 4,500 euros. Alternatives required? Coupé, diesel, four-wheel drive and automatic are also available in the 190 hp strong BMW 220d xDrive from 37,900 euros. The Mercedes SLC 250 d with 204 hp does not offer a four-wheel drive, but a lot of fresh air. The whole for at least 43,524 euros. Market launch for the Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro is early 2017.
